Unfiltered and Direct: Moving to Substack
From three platforms to one. Simplifying and streamlining to make life easier for me, so that I can write better content for you.
I’ve moved my newsletter to Substack, a platform that combines the directness of email with the interactivity of social media, all without algorithmic interference. This shift allows for more genuine and meaningful conversations between us.
Direct to you, as before
Substack sends my content directly to your inbox, ensuring you receive what you’ve subscribed to without any distractions. You can comment, ask questions, and offer feedback easily by tapping the speech bubble icon 🗨 in any email. Your comments and feedback help me become a better writer, and help me understand your needs and what you find valuable. Please do make requests for what you want to see more of (and what you want to see less of).
Public, but without the surrounding noise
The move also simplifies my workflow, enabling me to focus on writing rather than managing multiple platforms. The streamlined process saves time and enhances the quality and consistency of my content. Plus, Substack’s ad- and promotion-free environment ensures that our interactions remain authentic and uncluttered.
Adding audio
For you, little changes. You’ll still receive my emails as before, with the added bonus of more effortless interaction. You can unsubscribe with one click, and my newsletters will remain free. What Substack also allows me to do is to voice-over my own posts, providing you the option to listen, rather than read. I am, however, choosing to make that option available only for paying subscribers.
Values aligned
Substack's business model aligns with my values and our mutual interests. Substack doesn’t make its money from our information or selling ads. It makes money when readers choose to support good content with paid subscriptions. In short, it makes money when writers make money. And writers make money when they are writing content others find valuable and worth reading.
If that changes, I’ll pivot again.
Let’s get settled into our new home
I look forward to continuing our journey together on Substack, a home for good writing, questioning and thinking, rather than puffery, meme-ifing and endless self-promotion.
