This article is so illustrative and helpful. I couldn't articulate this myself, barely initiating flight after reluctantly gathering the support I need to be able to breathe again.

Thank you. Especially for the paragraph about how targets come to be perceived by others due to the stress, whether there's a slandering campaign in the workplace or not: the drain on my energy of constantly wondering why I can't "just leave" or "just take control of the situation" was crazy-making.

My self-esteem is coming back online in the exact proportion with which I grieve the "community" I am finally, finally leaving behind.

I’m so sorry that you feel you have to leave a community that has been important to you. And, I know you know this, but I will say it again anyway: any community that has as it’s cost of membership the health and well being of a member is fundamentally failing as a community.

It’s likely starting to become a toxic system of control that may preach belonging but actually demands conformity and the erosion of individual will, integrity and dignity.

That’s just normalizing harm under the guise of connection.

Yes, it normalizes dismissal. "Kind," well-intended impatience with discomfort, resulting in gridlock of everything community is actually made of.

Thanks for the support
